Featured Book

In their quest to become an effective leader, many people go searching for a set list of skills, qualities and characteristics to emulate. Author Bill George says authentic leadership is not about trying to make yourself a carbon copy of some other leader.  Instead, the book suggests that to be an authentic leader, you need to take the time to explore the story of your own life and discover the unique purpose, beliefs, values, passion and experiences you have and how you can let those guide your decisions and actions – like true north on a compass. The author also shares some specific practices that the reader can use to help them discover their “true north” and define the type of legacy they want to leave.  As the practices in the book suggest, much of the journey to authenticity is an inward journey with much self-reflection. This means leaders have to take time out of their “doing” to explore some of the more deeper issues. It’s not a quick trip, but if planned out thoughtfully, this inward journey can have a transformative impact on the leader and the people they serve.
