CEO Kevin Klein will share some of the leadership and business principals he has used in his 22 year career at Cherry Capital airport to help grow it into the third busiest airport in Michigan serving well over 700,000 passengers in 2023 while earning it numerous awards for quality and safety. His topics will include Creating a Vision for Growth, Building Buy-in for Change, and Developing your Team. These are principles that can be applied to any size business or non-profit organization who wants to create momentum toward growth and set the stage for a sustainable future.
Presenter: Kevin C. Klein, A.A.E., CEO – Cherry Capital Airport
Kevin Klein has helped grow the Cherry Capital airport into a highly recognized and awarded airport for both safety and operational excellence while continuing to build and expand infrastructure and airport services. Under his leadership, the Cherry Capital Airport earned the FAA Airport Safety Excellence Award; the Balchen Post Award for Winter Safety Excellence and the Airline Pilots Association’s ‘Airport of the Year. Mr. Klein is in his 22 nd year with Cherry Capital Airport. He started his career at the airport in 2002 as Operation Manager, was promoted to Assistant Airport Director in 2004 and was appointed as Airport Director in 2011. Mr. Klein took the helm as CEO in 2021 having helped lead the successful governance transition to the Northwest Regional Airport Authority.
Mr. Klein has received numerous professional awards including Airport Manager of the Year in 2017 by the Michigan Association of Airport Executives and the FAA Airport Partnership Award for his work on the FAA’s Takeoff and Landing Performance Assessment Group. Mr. Klein is an Accredited Airport Executive (A.A.E) and a licensed airport manager with the State of Michigan. He has held a Private Pilot Certificate since 1991. He graduated from Western Michigan University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Aviation Technology and Operations Management, and a minor in General Business. Most importantly, Kevin is married to Leslie Klein, and they have three wonderful sons; Mark, Joe, and Nicholas.
